I’m pretty ecstatic with how the site is looking so far. It was looking somewhat messy so it had to be cleaned up. Do you like it? lemme know. But yeah, the coding is lookin’ pretty fly so far, all that is left is the most important part of all: design.

Ehhhhhhhhh. Now let me tell you how I don’t like designing around something. I’m a graphic designer and I can’t even web design properly. I’m pretty much a failure, but at least I make things look pretty. Trust me, I’m gonna get over this stage in my life real soon. I’ve been told this:

“Jessica, your work must have a concept and idea behind it – not just look pretty.”

What do they know? They’re all over 30. They probably all formed a club and knit together while talking about how I don’t know how to spell concept. My life is just beginning and people like me like seeing pretty, sparkly and flashy things. Who cares if the message is SAVE THE ANIMALS!! if it looks like barney threw up on a granny no one is gonna wanna look at it. It’s gotta look nice. Of course I’m almost out of this stage so I probably won’t be saying this for long. Though it’s quite fun while it lasts, mwuahahaha.

Coding has been growing on me these past few days. I feel like a sorcerer now – as if I’m about to pull out some harry potter magic tricks and turn something into a big fluffy dog. I didn’t even know how to use position relative a few days ago, and now I’ve mastered the damn thing. It only took me like what? 6 years? Oh well at least now I know. It’s like OH your husband has been cheating on you with a stripper and they have a family in canada you don’t know about – their oldest kid is 15 yrs old. Well girl sucks to be you but AT LEAST NOW YOU KNOW.

Ultimately I have Sumaiya to thank for that. Without her I might as well still be using iframes. As some of you may know she helps me with coding and is the brains of the site, and I’ve been on a mission to learn everything she knows about this stuff. I figure I can’t not know coding forever. But now I do. I’m smiling really weird right now. Coding makes me happy when it listens to me.

I’m slowly working on a layout to put up with this new setup. Gonna take my time on it til I really, really like it.

    I just got into listening to the backstreet boys again. Some of their songs are really good! You know you like them!!

    And you should listen to their songs “panic” and “any other way” they are REALLY good :) I think I’m gonna bring back the music blogs to the site…

Sorry left out something! ;] In the resource section maybe you should leave the background black and when hovered it is still black but the text is underlined instead of just white and black background and underline on hover. I don’t know if im really clear on this lol but yeah. just a suggestion.

  10. It would be good if you had an option between no and yes because there’s some elements I think are fantastic and some I’m not too sure about. Overall it’s good though, everything is laid out well and easy to use. I think you should probably add the site title somewhere and make the navigation pop a bit more but you’re probably planning on doing when it gets down to designing.

    Personally I don’t agree with all this “your work must have meaning!” marlarky. Sure, if you’re designing an advert or a corporate website you have different messages you have to convey, but if you’re just creating art I don’t see the problem with just making something pretty. Besides, the beauty of art is the viewer can project their own meaning onto it.

  11. I like your fonts and they layout of divs and such but the colours, well, colour is a bit lacking. Is there going to be more colour incorporated? It would be a bit less boring. I think this colour would look good with bright pink or purple.

    Grow up. A concept is professional. You won’t make it far into the corporate world if you have that attitude. The clients won’t want something that’s “pretty”, unless you are designing for 13 year olds..

  16. I think the CSS is very good, the font choices are nice, and I like the color scheme although perhaps just a bit more color other than green?

    But I’m wondering if this is the finished product or if you still have more you plan on doing.

    And congrats on learning new coding. (:
