Shatter Effect

Learn this transition:



First get out your freehand selection tool and simply cut out Scarlett. It doesn't have to be anything perfect.

Now press CTRL X - CTRL V and Scarlett should be in her own little image. After that go to Image > Canvas Size. Match your settings to mine. Also, don't forget to press the middle button on the Placement section! (circled in green)


So now Scarlett should be in the center and there should be some room around her. Make a new raster layer, fill it with white and then drag it so that it's under Scarlett. It should look something like this:


Now take your freehand selection tool, set it to 50% Feather and 2% Smoothing. Select the bottom half of Scarlett like so:

After you've connected them it should be feathered out. Now don't do anything yet! Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Mosaic Antique and match your settings to mine:

Now it should look like this:

After that go back to your image and press CRTL Y 3 times after that (it repeats the mosaic process) and it should look shattered! You can try this on other PSDS or images...take a look at other images in use with this effect:
