Creating And Using Photoshop Actions
Much like Paint Shop Pro scripts, Photoshop Actions make repeating a favorite effect or colorization much easier. To begin, we must first make sure the Actions window is selected. If not, go to Window and select Actions.
Creating your own actions is very simple. Click the right hand arrow in the top corner of the Actions menu and go to New Set. Making a new set creates the main folder for your specific actions. If you wanted a seperate set for colorization and abstract effects, you could make two seperate sets and add actions under for each. It's much more organized that way.
So now that we've made a new set, we need to begin with our first action. Go back to the right hand arrow and select New Action. Once you do this the action begins to record!
Now you can begin with the steps to your certain effect. Keep in mind that you can also pause or stop recording and resume working whenever you'd like by using the bottom of the menu bar. If you accidently entered a step, you can press the stop button - highlight your desired step and press the trash icon to delete it. Afterwards you can click play and continue working.
After you've finished your steps, press the stop button.
To save this action and possibly offer it on your website in the future, select your action set (not your actual action) go to the arrow once more and select Save Actions.
To use any photoshop action, go to your arrow menu and select Load Actions and select your action set. Easy!
