Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions I get on a regular basis. Hopefully they answer some of your questions!
How do I get my website link in the beginning of your blogs?
These links are reserved for commenters from my previous blogs, chosen at random. So if you'd like your link on my blog, comment and maybe you'll get lucky!
I added you on msn, but you're hardly on!
Due to the monstrous amount of people adding me, it's hard for me to sign on all the time without being bombarded (not that it's a bad thing, I enjoy talking to my visitors!). I really do try to sign on as much as I can!
I sent in an affiliation form weeks ago, but you never replied!
If I don't reply, it simply means I decided not to accept you.
I was offended by something that was written in your blog.
I never intentionally mean to offend or hurt anyones feelings. If you find yourself constantly offended, you should stop reading my blogs.
Are you hosting?
I usually don't host unless I offer. But in terms of hosting in general, it's a no.
How do you get so much hits?
Lots of hard work and dedication.
Do you ever comment on people's sites?
Rarely. I would love to, but I don't really have the time.
Why are you so talented? =P
I am? Haha. Thanks. I just practice a lot and I never give up or let anyone deter me from doing what I love. Neither should you.
Who is your host?
Skye Host.
Can I have/copy your CSS?
Taking my CSS and editing it to your liking is not allowed. You can get a little inspired, but don't overdo it.
Do you have a myspace/facebook?
No.
When and where did you begin making graphics?
I started in early 2001 on Neopets.
When was swimchick.net born?
The site was opened June 30th, 2005.
What program do you use?
I mainly use Paint Shop Pro 8 and Photoshop CS3.
Where do you get your brushes/pictures/textures??
I use a lot of my own resources, which you can find and download on the site. For all the other brushes, check my resources and credits page.
Do you have AIM?
I do, but it's strictly for my offline friends. If you'd like to chat, feel free to add me on my MSN.
Wanna be friends!?
Sure, why not? :)
Can you teach me how to...?
Sorry, but I just don't have the time.
In average how long does it take for you to make a layout?
Hmm...probably about an hour or two. Maybe less, depends how determined and creative I get.
What kind of camera/mobile camera do you use to make your youtube videos?
Nothing special, it's a Sony Cybershot DSC P100. I should probably get a new one, I know.
Which websites do you look up to?
I enjoy looking at Cynthia's work, as well as Eshita and Serena.
How long did it take to "perfect" your graphics?
I'd say it took me almost 4 and a half years to really begin advancing my graphics. This is because I was stuck in the neopets phase, constantly using illustrated backgrounds and making my layouts enclosed in the same square shape. I hardly had any practice with "real" pictures, so it was difficult for me to make the transition from boxed layouts to free falling. After I created my website I began to improve tremendously with my graphics.
What inspired you to make a site?
I was always being asked how I got a certain effect, or how I colored a picture a certain way. I grew tired of having to tell everyone the same thing and thought about making tutorials to help people do it themselves, since I enjoyed helping people out. I was often envious of many people with their own domains, seeing them get visitors and making their own website layouts and wanted one myself. I also knew that I could get people to visit my website with their interest in learning my effects.
How many times do you update?
I don't specifically plan out when I'm going to update. I just do it whenever I feel like it or think it's been long enough without an update.
Why do kids love cinnamon toast crunch?
Cause it's better than Cocoa Puffs!
How do you make your brushes?
Sometimes I use unused makeup and experiment with them, and other times I draw things out or just simply scans random things I find to brush worthy. Be creative with your resources! You can use a lot of things at home to make brushes and you probably don't even know it.
